Updates to Action Research Plan

After taking a break and reviewing my plan again.  It was clear to me that I needed to add some type of self-reflection.  I want to make sure I have a specific time to ask myself what I can be doing to help support the success of the program I am implementing, and how can I go above and beyond for my students.  I also want to ask the same of my team members.  They are all adults and I expect them to honestly say if they are taking advantage of everything the program has to offer or if they are just blowing it off and praying their grades improve.  I also need to put a protocol in place for when teachers don’t respond to the e-mail prompts and fail to get grades and attendance to me.  How will I handle this to make sure the program is given a fair shot?  I would like to include a survey for alumni who were on the team before we had any program in place.  I also need to explain the other types of data I will be using besides surveys.

  1. Kristyn, I think the biggest obstacle is getting the teachers to buy in. It is so important that teachers feel that there is validity to this change and can take ownership. Sometimes, people are stuck in their old ways or cannot see the benefits to certain initiatives. What is it that you coach?

    1. It will be a huge obstacle...I coach the competitive co-ed cheerleading team and powerlifting club that are both ran out of the recreational facility at Lamar. But I will be doing the research on the cheerleading and dance teams.

  2. I took a little time to think about my plan also. I believe that you will be able to make changes and add things as we go.

I agree with Joe that professor by-in is tough. But, I think you have a great idea that will not only help your cheerleaders with their scholarships, but the university overall.
